Fall open gyms are one of the best chances to see players compete before the season, but the schedules are scattered across program websites, texts and word of mouth. The Open Gym Map puts them in one place in the Thirty Second Timeout app.
What's on it
The current fall feed lists 141 high school and prep programs with 467 open-gym sessions, concentrated in the Northeast (Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania have the most). It's updated as programs post new dates.
Three ways to look at it
- Map. Every program with an upcoming session, pinned. Tap one for details.
- List. The same gyms as a list, with the next session date and time on each row.
- Route. Pick a date and the app builds a "plan of attack": every open gym that day, ordered from closest to farthest if you share your location.
Narrow it down
Search by city, state or school. Filter by state, and by distance from 25 up to 500 miles. For a single day, use Route with a date to see only the gyms running then.
On each program
- Address, the full session schedule, and any notes the program shared, such as the head coach's contact details.
- Call, Email and Directions buttons, so you can confirm with the program and navigate in one tap.
- Reminders 1, 3 or 7 days before a session.
- Signed in, you can save a session as Interested or Planning to Attend to keep your fall calendar in one place.
Confirm before you drive. Open gym times change, and some locations are approximate. Use the Call or Email button to check with the program the day before.
A quick way to use it
Pick a day you're already on the road. Open Route, set the date, turn on location, and you'll see every open gym running that day in driving order. Set reminders for the ones you want, confirm with the programs, and go.
